Brother and sister
One 6 months old. The other just under 3 yrs.
One on my mommas back
As the other is carried by a kind
Stranger — also on this journey.
They don’t know where they’re going
But they heard:
Estarán seguros cuando lleguen del otro lado.
Long drive up north
They’re tired.
Halted truck — ya es hora.
They walk.
Walk thru an endless desert,
They’re tired.
One 6 months old. The other just under 3 yrs.
They’re tired.
Thoughts of their father.
Thoughts of finally being together.
Their motivation — but
They’re tired.
The U.S
Jaula de oro.
Countless stories like theirs.
They’re tired.
Some don’t make it.
Their souls,
tired.
Caged up and Faced with a system of oppression upon arrival,
They’re tired.
Maggots in their food, cracks in their plates, no clean water.
They’re tired!
TIRED!
Tired of being held in CAGES.
Children, tired of growing up in facilities.
Hunger strikes fought back with deportation Orders and retaliation.
They’re tired!
Silenced by the hole.
But their resilience,
Always fighting.
We do it for those on the inside!
On the outside we scream:
SHUT DOWN NWDC!
On the inside,
They just want to be seen as
DIGNOS DE VIVIR!
